Stay

I came home and played
Songs rolling like cylinders
Back and forth, end to end of kitchen

I danced, heels and toes,
Gliding reckless on the floor, dyssynchronous and
Amoebic arms, so maybe

I just needed the right song

Today’s the day, huh?
No matter where I go,
I’m begging you to stay

Radio says, alone again, alone again
I have to unclasp my hand or
It’s the club for me, paralyzed and

Screaming
Sorry Mama, the radio says,
Please don’t worry; and

How the bass tone hits
Don’t worry, it says,
Same ol’ boy, it says

Gotta loosen my grip
So many eyes on me, full of
Anticipation, and I used to feel so

Invisible; still,
No matter where I go,
I’m begging you to stay, and

How cruel (my love) to treat you this way
(I will love you), trapped in the house like a
Weekday dog? (to the end)

Watching to see what I do
Next, unsure and
Unpredictable as ever?

(As predictably unpredictable as ever)
I will love you to the end
Hand over hand on the transmission

When you said, “I don’t want to miss a thing.”
I want to hold you and
Absorb all the pain, but

No matter where I go,
I’m begging you to stay
