Reach

Reserved.
They’d probably say reserved, or
Calculating, but I know you’re just

Puzzling in that quiet space, always
Trying to do the right thing.
Before he cut me off, I tried to say you

Taught me how to
Live in the fourth space, the
Internal world; our

Fate as fathers like a
Smith’s cauldron,
Process in, process out

We are like visitors in this world, and how
You always manage to
Say the right word, and

Always, just before I collapse, if I only
Reach,
You will be there

Forgotten far too often, but
Remembered now, projects mended,
Babbling in your language, and she

Giggles when I tickle her toes
Bee scano wano wah
Rocking her slow, away from the

Nightmare, da! da!
You are safe, you are safe, and the
Lion says roar (yay)

You taught me how to meet her there, in
The fourth space
Keep her safe in

The fourth space
Rocking her slow in
Poloroid montage, I remember

The Enterprise, Picard, next to you like
Yesterday, mesmerized by the
Screen, and I only

Reached, and still you
Saved me, just this week, when I was
Weak. I missed your birthday, and you

Saved me, and please know
You are not forgotten, and
You live forever, and

We, too, live forever within our children.

So, I am sorry this keeps happening.
Can we walk over the shore on the pier once more?
I keep forgetting to

Reach.
